2017 is turning into an interesting year for Restaurant Brands International. Coming off its stellar quarterly earnings, RBI is now rumoured to possibly acquire Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
According to a report in Reuters, “people familiar with the matter” stated the deal would continue to push RBI — which owns Tim Hortons and Burger King — as the leading fast food chain in the world and expand its global reach. However, a price has yet to be agreed upon and both Popeyes and Restaurant Brands did not comment.
Popeyes is based in Atlanta and is known for its Louisiana-style fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits. The chain has over 2,000 restaurants, with 1,600 located in the United States.
Perhaps one day we will see Tim Hortons coffee enter Popeyes to please the morning crowd.
