Earlier in the week we posted a pic of a marketing poster that showed Tim Hortons was going all out for its big 50th anniversary celebration on May 17th. The poster revealed that they’ll be giving away a Birthday Cake Donut on that glorious Saturday. This flavour of donut is not yet available in Canada, but the Birthday Cake Timbit recently launched in the United States.
I saw one of these posters at my local Tim Hortons and it reads “Celebrate with us! Free Birthday Cake Donut on May 17th.” As for the fine print, well it’s pretty standard stuff but confirms there is a limit of one per Timmies addict: “At participating restaurants for a limited time while supplies last. Limit one per guest. Not valid with any other coupons, discount or combos. Void where prohibited by law. No cash value, substitutions or rain checks.”
So each person who visits will score a free Birthday Cake donut. Bring the entire family!! That’s a solid way to celebrate a Saturday.
Update: It’s May 17th and today is Tim Hortons 50th anniversary. When you walk into a restaurant they will give you a free Birthday Cake donut. Pretty spectacular… check out our review of the Birthday Cake donut here.
Update #2: The free donut extravaganza is over and plenty of Canadians took Tim Hortons up on their Birthday Cake offer, but now they have put the item on the menu for another month and changing $0.99 each. More here.
