There where a few key takeaways from the official press conference this morning, which was filled with a bunch of Timmies execs and legendary Maple Leaf Tie Domi, most notedly that there is no cost to the card and that there are a bunch of bonuses included.

Timmies noted that this new Double Double card is “happiness at the touch of a button” and that “shopping for your everyday items has never been so rewarding.” The card technology is a first in Canada and users “simply press the Tims button on your Double Double card to instantly pay for your order in full, or in part.”

As for the bonus gestures, a $20 Tim Cash will be loaded onto the card as a “welcome bonus” when you spend $200 on your CIBC Visa Card. Then, every time you make 5 Tim Card purchases and 5 CIBC Visa purchases in the same month you’ll score a free Tim Hortons baked good, like a donut or a muffin… which is about a buck in value. Finally, for every 50 CIBC Visa purchases you’ll receive a free pack of 50 Timbits – again valued at a few bucks.

I'm obsessed with Tim Hortons. It runs through my veins and I've probably spent enough money downing Steeped Tea's that I could have purchased my own franchise.
