Second Cup Coffee Co., which in my mind is not as delicious as Tim Hortons, has rolled out a new rewards program called Rewards. The premise is simple — download the mobile app to claim points towards free stuff.
The company states that apart from enjoying its coffee or baked goods, its new loyalty program and its accompanying mobile app has been designed to “enhance its customers’ coffee experience by providing a simple and fast way to earn points, redeem rewards and be delighted by personalized offers and surprises.”
The app is available to Android and iOS users, including those wearing the recently released Apple Watch. Users will be able to earn points for every dollar spent — 10 points for every dollar spent and you’ll get a reward for every 500 points earned.
The app is designed very well and shows a coffee drop filling up your virtual cup when you redeem for rewards. Second Cup called this the “tap to drop” feature. When the time comes to redeem, a notification will appear on your device informing you to alert the barista. From a mobile payment perspective, the Rewards app operates in a similar manner as many rewards apps on the market. The company allows you to top up your card and shows your balance. Paying for orders can be completed with one touch and also gives a glance at your complete transaction history.
In addition, Second Cup will also bring special offers and “tailored surprises” to Reward users, such as new drinks and various levels of point incentives, which will arrive via notifications to your home screen. Unfortunately, there is no indication of how often these will occur.
The app also has a store locator and the option.
